Korn

Blending ferocious heavy rock and hip-hop, they were one of the first nu metal groups to break the mainstream.

Biography

Korn's cathartic alternative metal positioned the group among the most popular and provocative to emerge during the post-grunge era. They issued their debut album in 1994; thanks to a relentless tour schedule, the record steadily rose the charts, eventually going gold. Life Is Peachy (1996), reached the number three spot on the album charts. 1998's Follow the Leader, 1999's Issues, and 2002's Untouchables preceded 2003's self-produced Take a Look in the Mirror; billed by the band as a reconsideration of their sound, the album was accompanied by a tour of smaller venues. 2005's See You on the Other Side was a number three hit, followed by the underwhelming Untitled. ~ Jason Ankeny
