San Francisco-based hard rock band forged a unique sound by fusing funk, thrash, and hardcore styles.
With their fusion of heavy metal, funk, hip-hop, and progressive rock, Faith No More earned a substantial cult following. By the time Faith No More recorded We Care a Lot (1985), the band already had a string of vocalists. Introduce Yourself (1987) was a more cohesive and impressive effort. The Real Thing (1989), featuring the more accomplished vocalist Mike Patton, established them as a major hard rock act. Angel Dust (1992), the follow-up, was one of the more complex and confounding records released by a major label. After King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime (1995) and Album of the Year (1997), the bandmembers announced their breakup. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
