My Chemical Romance

Goth-tinged, melancholy punk (pop-punk? screamo?) band created a potent, commercially viable musical blend in the '00s.

Biography

While many My Chemical Romance songs are loud, fast, hyper, and aggressive, the band's work also tends to be melodic and pop-minded. In 2002, Eyeball Records released their debut album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, with the aggressively slick Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge following in 2004. The album boasted several successful singles. As My Chemical Romance prepared to enter the studio for their third album, they issued Life on the Murder Scene in 2006. The package extensively documented practically everything MCR, including demos, music videos, live footage, and interviews. The Black Parade was issued in 2006 and went platinum by early 2007. ~ Alex Henderson
