At the forefront of the NWBHM, Iron Maiden is still a major metal contender.
One of heavy metal's most influential bands, Iron Maiden was one of the first to be classified as "British metal." Their groundbreaking 1982 album Number of the Beast made them international rock superstars, and they changed very little of their style for their next couple albums, Piece of Mind (1983) and Powerslave (1984). Their 1986 album Somewhere in Time was a departure, showcasing the use of synthesizer guitars. 1988's Seventh Son of a Seventh Son was their most critically acclaimed LP since Number of the Beast. In 1990 "Bring Your Daughter...To the Slaughter" became their first British chart-topper. ~ Barry Weber
