Melodic 1980s post-punk band never achieved stardom to match its talent, but live on in hearts, minds of britpop fans.
The Chameleons were one of the finest bands of the British post-punk era, with layers of pealing guitars and a dark, foreboding feel emblematic of the style. Nevertheless, they didn't achieve the career momentum that would have made them stars, and broke up in 1986 after their third album, STRANGE TIMES. After splintering off into various side projects, the band reunited in 2000, performing and recording anew to great critical acclaim. Having influenced numerous artists in the interim, the Chameleons finally began to reap the respect that had been long overdue.
