Midwestern emo-rock band unafraid to experiment, morphing frequently on critically praised records from the 1990s & '00s.
Midwestern emo-rock band the Get Up Kids formed in the mid-1990s. Relentless touring and a steady stream of punk-pop albums and EPs gained the group a devoted following, placing them at the front of the ever-growing emo pack. For 2002's eclectic ON A WIRE, however, the Kids perplexed many fans with a restless set of quirky (and sometimes surprisingly subdued) pop songs. Two years later, the Get Up Kids made a return to form with GUILT SHOW, but some of their experimental edge remained intact, proving that the band is one of the more dynamic emo acts.
