Soulful Irish singer/songwriter who combines folk, gospel, R&B, rock, and jazz, often with a mystical bent.
Van Morrison fuses R&B, soul, jazz, blues, and Celtic folk into some of the most unique material in the rock & roll canon. The Irish vocalist first rose to fame in the mid-'60s with Them, a garage rock band that scored hit songs with "Baby Please Don't Go" and "Gloria." He left the group in 1966 and launched a solo career, enjoying success at home and abroad with "Domino," "Brown-Eyed Girl," "Wild Night," and "Into the Mystic." Over the course of five decades, Van Morrison has proven to be a unique vocalist with a willingness for adventure and musical experimentation. ~ Jason Ankeny
