Successful welsh singer-songwriter with an organic hybrid of acoustic soul, electronica, and pop.
British singer/songwriter David Gray had released three overlooked albums by the time White Ladder (and its international hit single, "Babylon") brought his mix of acoustic instrumentation and electronic samples to the mainstream. Born in Manchester in 1968, Gray spent time in several punk bands before launching his solo career in the early '90s. Fellow musician Dave Matthews gave Gray a boost by releasing White Ladder on his own label, ATO Records, in 2000, and "Babylon" began climbing the charts in several countries. Gray celebrated his mounting recognition by issuing a handful of albums over the following year, including the number one hit Life in Slow Motion. ~ Kelly McCartney
