Audioslave

Highly successful rock band of the new millennium that features former members of Soundgarden and Rage Against The Machine.

Biography

Ex-Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell and ex-Rage Against the Machine members Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, and Tom Morello formed Audioslave in 2001. Their self-titled album, released on Epic in 2002, eventually went multi-platinum on the strength of "Cochise" and the moody rocker "Like a Stone," and they supported it with gigs that included 2003 Lollapalooza dates. The band returned in May 2005 with Out of Exile, which debuted at number one on Billboard. Revelations followed in 2006, and a year later, shortly after the members of Rage announced that they would reunite for that year's Coachella festival, Cornell left Audioslave, leaving the state of the band uncertain. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
