Slightly Stoopid

Southern California outfit Slightly Stoopid mixes ska-punk with hip-hop, dub, folk, and pop in their pursuit of carefree, jam-centric good times.

Biography

Southern California quartet Slightly Stoopid released their self-titled debut in 1998. Steeped in the region’s skate-punk aesthetic, Slightly Stoopid drew inspiration from ska and classic thrash, while singing about good times and the joys of marijuana. Those elements remained central to the band’s sound, yet with 2003’s EVERYTHING YOU NEED and 2005’s CLOSER TO THE SUN, Slightly Stoopid were drawing on hip-hop, dub, pop, and singer-songwriter elements. With their eclectic stylistic mix and hours-long, jam-filled concerts, Slightly Stoopid earned a sizable, loyal following.
