The Del Vikings

The first successful multi-racial pop band whose 1957 hit "Come Go With Me" is an enduring doo-wop classic.

Biography

Best known for the enduring doo-wop classic "Come Go With Me," a #4 hit in 1957, the Del-Vikings also earned their place in history as the first successful multi-racial band of the rock era. The quartet met in Air Force barracks in the mid-'50s, and swiftly honed a smooth, harmonic pop sound. In the wake of their huge hit, military assignments would wreak havoc with the band's line-up, although they would score another top ten hit with "Whispering Bells." While the original four members reunited in the '60s, they never replicated their early radio success. However, various line-ups of the Del-Vikings could be found touring the states into the 21st century.
