Buffalo Tom

Brooding, yet jangly-melodic indie rock trio were one of the sturdiest of college scene of the 1980s & '90s.

Biography

Buffalo Tom were one of the sturdiest bands of the Massachusetts college rock scene of the late 1980s and early '90s. Offering a sound that encompassed the main sonic aspects of nearly the whole of alternative and underground rock during the era--jangle pop, alt-country, distortion-saturated guitar rock--Buffalo Tom seemed poised for the big time. Alas, they never achieved mainstream stardom, but they remained a beloved cult band for various alt-rock aficionados years after their popularity faded, enough so that they launched a comeback in the early 2000s.
