The New Radicals

Gregg Alexander's alternative pop group, best known for 1998 hit "You Get What You Give."

Biography

Versatile songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Gregg Alexander had been on the verge of making it since releasing his first record in 1989. However, despite his undeniable knack for confectionery folk-pop with a political edge, fame eluded him for almost a decade. His luck finally changed (if only briefly) when, as the force behind the New Radicals, he became a cause celebre in 1998 with the brilliantly reviewed MAYBE YOU'VE BEEN BRAINWASHED TOO, and its cheekily upbeat lead single, "You Get What You Give." Unfortunately, Alexander bristled at the phenomenon of the song and the trite reception from some in the media and retired the New Radicals name only weeks after the release of second single, "Someday We'll Know."
