William Bell

R&B singer achieved cult following (and the occasional chart hit) from the 1960s to the '80s with pointed, arching compositions.

Biography

One of the pioneers of the Southern school of '60s soul, William Bell is most famous for the classic "You Don't Miss Your Water," a song that remains a landmark in the development of country R&B. In a bizarre turn of events, new wave pinup boy Billy Idol had a big hit with Bell's "To Be a Lover" in 1986.
