Ace of Base

Frothy Swedish quartet Ace of Base mixed bubblegum hooks and club beats to become the ABBA of the early 1990s.

Biography

Swedish pop quartet Ace of Base made an international splash with their 1993 debut album THE SIGN, which fused club-oriented techno beats with catchy pop songwriting, spawning huge hits like "All That She Wants" and "The Sign." Although later albums did not match the sales of their debut, the group--consisting of siblings Jonas, Jenny, and Linn Berggren and Ulf Ekberg--continued to find success on the Europop circuit into the next decade, with hits that included a cover of Bananarama's "Cruel Summer."
