'80s Norwegian Synth-Pop band best known for #1 hit, "Take on Me."
After three attempts, "Take on Me" became a hit in the U.K., hitting number two in November 1985 and bringing Norwegian pop band a-ha mainstream popularity. Due to the exposure of its stunning video on MTV, the song went to number one in the U.S. The album Hunting High and Low subsequently reached the Top Ten. The press were quick to dismiss them as a teeny bop sensation; however, a-ha released several albums throughout the next two decades and developed a very devout fan base, culminating in Singles 1984-2004, a collection that put the band back on the U.K. Top 20 Albums chart. ~ Kelvin Hayes
