Biography

Nathan Hale, aka Nate Dogg, was born in 1969 to a musical family, including cousin Snoop Dogg. But it was his smash single with Warren G, “Regulate,” that made Nate a star, thanks to his Isaac Hayes-like baritone. The singer/rapper was immediately in high demand, and was featured on hit tracks with everyone from Dr. Dre and Snoop to Eminem and 2Pac. His own solo debut was held up in the mid-1990s due to legal issues at Death Row Records, although G-FUNK CLASSICS, VOL. 1 & 2, saw the light of day in 1998. A few more solo records and continued partnerships with other MCs and R&B singers would follow, before complications from two non-fatal strokes during 2008 slowed down the superstar’s momentum. On March 15, 2011 he died of congestive heart failure in Long Beach, CA; Nate Dogg was 41 years old.
