Melodic pop band pairs strong harmonies and clever lyrics, one of Canada’s most successful exports since the early 1990s.
By combining humor, songcraft, and an eclectic mix of folk and pop/rock, the Barenaked Ladies enjoyed considerable popularity in their native Canada before eventually rising to universal status. Their full-length debut, 1992's Gordon, featured "Be My Yoko Ono," "If I Had a $1,000,000," and "Brian Wilson," consequently moving over one million units and initiating BNL's reign as Canadian pop kings. Stunt, issued in 1998, transformed the group into commercial heavyweights in both the U.S. and U.K. Buoyed by the chart-topping single "One Week," the album sold over four million units and upgraded the band to stadium performances. ~ Andrew Leahey
