Contemporary Florida-based one-man folk band.
Samuel Beam's lo-fi Iron & Wine tapes caught the attention of Sub Pop. Asked by the label to submit material, Beam obliged, and two albums' worth of songs were slimmed down to 2002's The Creek Drank the Cradle. The following The Sea & the Rhythm featured five tracks recorded during the same sessions. Released in 2004, Our Endless Numbered Days was his first proper studio recording; that year, three of his songs were used in the In Good Company soundtrack, and a Postal Service cover was featured in Garden State. In the Reins, recorded with Calexico, preceded 2007's The Shepherd's Dog, the lushest Iron & Wine album yet. ~ Bradley Torreano & Tim Sendra
