Bell X1

Irish indie popsters match homeland success with arena-ready pop hooks.

Biography

In the grand tradition of Irish bands named after famous American planes, Bell X1 achieved massive success in their home country and penetrated markets beyond via consistent licensing on American television shows and a Yep Roc record deal. The four primary members--Paul Noonan (vocals, guitar, drums), Dominic Phillips (bass), David Geraghty (guitar, keyboards), and Brian Crosby (guitar, keyboards)--arose in the '90s as Juniper, an indie rock band also featuring Damien Rice. Hitting the ground running after their split with Rice, Bell X1 perfected a recipe combining elements of U2's arena-ready throb, Coldplay's pop hooks, and electronica textures over several critically lauded '00s albums. Crosby amicably left the band in October 2008 to focus on other projects.
