Tevin Campbell

1990s New Jack Swing R&B singer who started recording hits with Quincy Jones when he was 11 years old.

Biography

Singer Tevin Campbell emerged on the R&B scene with the #1 R&B single “Tomorrow (A Better You A Better Me) when he was only 11 years old. The track appeared on Quincy Jones’ 1989 album BACK TO THE BLOCK, which won a Grammy. Like the young Michael Jackson, Campbell had a youthful charm and energy, which proved a powerful combination with his New Jack Swing sound. The Prince-produced “Round and Round” hit the charts, as did the adult contemporary single, “Tell Me What You Want Me to Do,” among others, from his 1991 full-length debut T.E.V.I.N. The albums that followed, I’M READY and BACK TO THE WORLD also yielded singles, and his 1999 self-titled disc found him exploring neo-soul. Campbell has also acted in films, on television, and on Broadway.
