Heavily influenced by the work of J. Dilla, Black Milk continues the late beatsmith’s crisp, loop-heavy production style.
Influenced by the work of fellow Detroit native J. Dilla, the producer/MC known as Black Milk carries the torch for the late beatsmith’s crisp, loop-heavy production style. After his production debut on Slum Village’s sophomore album, Trinity (Past, Present & Future) (2002), Black Milk became SV’s go-to producer, providing beats for their following two albums. In 2005, he released his first solo project, Sound of the City, Vol. 1, a compilation featuring guest work from many Detroit underground artists. With his 2007 Fat Beats debut, Popular Demand, Black received accolades for his finely crafted production as well as his undeniable mike skills. ~ Matt Rinaldi
