Hailing from Denver, Colorado, the Fray excels at thoughtful, straight-ahead light rock.
By pitching their music somewhere between the arena-friendly style of U2 and the mature pop/rock of bands like Better Than Ezra and Counting Crows, the Fray rose to prominence with their 2005 debut, How to Save a Life. After issuing two EPs -- [roviLink="MW"]Movement and Reason -- the band signed to Epic. How to Save a Life was released in 2005, with "Over My Head (Cable Car)" peaking at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 chart; the album's title track, used heavily by the TV series Grey's Anatomy, became a world-wide smash, reaching the Top Ten in the U.S. and peaking at number one in Bulgaria, Ireland, Canada, and Spain. ~ Andrew Leahey
