Biography

Formed in 1966 as the Savoy Brown Blues Band, the group shortened its name and released its debut, SHAKE DOWN, just a year later. The album was a solid run down of classic blues, and established the basic template the band would carry into the new millennium. Led by the talented guitarist Kim Simmonds, Sawyer Brown utilized a revolving-door line-up throughout its career, and at one point featured nearly the whole of the band that would become Foghat. Though never a huge success in their native England, the group’s boogie-blues style found purchase in the U.S. during the 1970s, and established them as a hard touring, hard rockin' institution for decades to come.
