Classical and jazz-influenced composer responsible for countless film scores.
Argentina-born Lalo Schifrin is one of the most respected film composers of the 20th century. Throughout his long career, he fused the influences of classical music, jazz, Latin, and funk to create a wide variety of moods. He's responsible for such classic film scores as COOL HAND LUKE, BULLITT, DIRTY HARRY, and countless others. Beyond his film work, though, he's also an accomplished jazz musician who has performed and recorded with Dizzy Gillespie, Clark Terry, Stan Getz, and many more. As the century turned, Schifrin continued working on new material, but his moody/funky '70s work had become hugely influential to a new generation of artists in hip-hop, trip-hop, and electronica.
