Eros Ramazzotti

This Italian pop/rock artist's bilingual output in the '90s made him a star in the world of Latin music.

Biography

As a Latin-pop singer, Eros Ramazzotti became especially popular in Germany, Mexico and Argentina (as well as his native Italy) during the '90s, and he has sold over 20 million records worldwide, though his success in America has been limited. He was born in the Rome suburb of Cinecitta during the mid-'60s, and moved to Milan to make a career of music as a teenager. Beginning with 1991's [roviLink="MW"]In Ogni Senso, Ramazzotti recorded three albums for Arista during the first half of the '90s. With a new BMG deal which included his RadioRama production company, Eros moved from pop-oriented music to more straightahead rock, even recruiting a rock band for the 1995 Rock over Europe festival.
