Bratty, witty, and sarcastic, Lilly Allen cleverly captured the crass contradictions of the new millennium via her neo-Brit-pop albums.
With her omnivorous musical tastes and cheeky attitude, London-based pop singer/songwriter Lily Allen made a name for herself almost as soon as she released her demos on the Internet. After leaving school, Allen concentrated on her songwriting and singing, developing a style that was equally sweet and bratty; late in 2005, she set up a MySpace page and posted demos of her songs. The critical acclaim fueled Allen's publicity, leading to a record deal with Regal/Parlophone. Hot on the heels of two successful singles came Allen's first full-length, Alright, Still. She earned four nominations for that year's Brit Awards. ~ Heather Phares
