Industrial metal band led by Justin Broadrick, mixed synthetic textures with sonic power.
After a brief spell playing guitar in the seminal grindcore band Napalm Death, Justin Broadrick formed the industrial metal band Godflesh in Birmingham, England, in the late 1980s. Broadrick's combining of synthetic textures with the sonic power of pure heavy metal proved hugely influential for musicians looking to blur the genre boundaries of experimental, industrial, rock, and metal. Broadrick dissolved Godflesh in the early 2000s, and went on to form the more ambient-sounding Jesu. In addition to that band, Broadrick also plays in various side projects, including Techno Animal and the long-running Final.
