Newcastle, England-based indie rock band with spiky, catchy, radio friendly pop songs.
Angular pop quintet Maxïmo Park craft sharply catchy songs inspired by post-punk and new wave legends like the Jam, XTC and Wire. The group issued a 7" in 2004 and caught the ears of Warp, who released their second single, "Apply Some Pressure," in 2005. They finished recording their debut album that winter and spent the spring touring the U.K., Japan, and the U.S.. The "Graffiti" single heralded the arrival of the band's full-length, A Certain Trigger, late that spring. Early in 2006, the B-sides collection Missing Songs was released, and they returned to the studio late that year to record 2007's Our Earthly Pleasures. ~ Heather Phares
