The Zen Tricksters are a New York City-based jam band.
The New York City-based jam band Zen Tricksters honed their Grateful Dead-inspired tunes in concert for years before finally releasing studio albums during the 1990s. Drawing particularly on bluegrass, jazz, and blues, the group has become a fixture in the neo-hippie scene, garnering accolades for records such as 2003’s SHAKING OFF THE WEIRDNESS. Following that outing, the ensemble joined up with former Dead vocalist Donna Jean Godchaux, and morphed into Donna Jean & the Tricksters for a 2008 self-titled album.
