The Sonics

Raw, fuzzy, and explosive 1960s garage rock band featuring screaming, unhinged vocalist Rob Lind.

Biography

The Sonics are arguably the most raw and explosive band of the 1960s garage rock movement. Formed in the Pacific Northwest in the early '60s, the Sonics were among several bands from the region to take early rock & roll and R&B and inject it with a pre-punk dose of raw attitude and volume. The gritty ensemble took this notion to the extreme, however, going so far as to add extra layers of fuzz and sonic crud to their recordings. In addition to their classic originals, the band also boasted one of the most unhinged vocalists around, Rob Lind, whose scream reverberated throughout rock and punk for decades to come.
