Along with Gary Moore, Michael Schenker never quite reached the same level of acclaim stateside as he did in Europe (and other parts of the world), despite possessing exceptional, and quite influential, six-string skills. Michael was born in Sarstedt, Germany, and it was his older brother, Rudolf, who sparked the youngster's interest in guitar at an early age. It wasn't long before Michael showed immense talent with the instrument, and by the early '70s he joined Rudolf's group, the Scorpions. Michael appeared on the group's 1972 full-length debut, Lonesome Crow, but left after the tour to join UFO. He has also played with Aerosmith, Contraband, and his own Michael Schenker Group. ~ Greg Prato
