Jim Allen

Deep-voiced NYC troubadour whose music pairs roots with dark humor.

Biography

Jim Allen is a deep-voiced New York City troubadour whose music pairs various roots-oriented styles with literate lyrics and dark humor reminiscent of Leonard Cohen and Townes Van Zandt. He got his start in New York’s downtown singer-songwriter scene at the end of the 1980s, and formed the Jim Allen Incident, with whom he recorded a handful of excellent albums, in the mid-‘90s. In ’06, Allen greatly expanded on his creative vision by forming the new wave-inspired power-pop unit Lazy Lions, who played the city’s club circuit to a legion of loyal fans.
