Biography

The long, varied career of singer-songwriter/guitarist Peter Case began in the early 1970s in San Francisco, where he performed as a street musician before forming the power pop band The Nerves (whose single, “Hanging on the Telephone,” was later covered by Blondie). After the Nerves disbanded in 1980 Case moved to Los Angeles and formed the Plimsouls, whose best-known song, “A Million Miles Away,” was featured in the movie VALLEY GIRL. After the break-up of the Plimsouls, Case toured with other artists, then released his first solo album in 1986. The album featured production by T-Bone Burnett and appearances by Roger McGuinn and John Hiatt. Case continued to release solo albums, many of which feature an acoustic folk sound, to great critical acclaim throughout the ‘80s, ‘90s, and early 2000s. Between albums Case has toured, reunited with the Plimsouls, organized tribute projects, and conducted songwriting workshops.
