Biography

Idaho-born Josh Ritter's deep, expressive, but never melodramatic voice recalls such understated singers as Leonard Cohen, and his traditional and often acoustic-based songcraft parallels the best confessional folk and pop singers of the 1970s. Though the songwriter got his start in the States, a series of early '00s gigs supporting the Irish band the Frames in their home country led to widespread popularity and chart action there. This helped his case back home, where he was signed to the V2 label, and has released several critically acclaimed albums.
