Tuck & Patti

Duo who, in the 1980s, begand reinventing both jazz standards and pop tunes in a sparse setting.

Biography

Pop/jazz duo Tuck Andress and Patti Cathcart made their name by reinventing both jazz standards and pop tunes in a sparse, guitar-and-voice format. Engaged in both a romantic and a musical partnership, Tuck & Patti are capable of achieving a startling degree of intimacy in their music, wrapping their vocal and instrumental lines sinuously around each other. They made a big splash in the late 1980s with their first couple of albums on Windham Hill, and have been at it ever since. Patti's warm, capable singing and Tuck's virtuosic guitar work make for a unique sound that has endured through decades and various label deals, always managing to make a direct emotional connection to the listener.
