Galaxie 500

Harvard schooled American psych pop band, and an American analogue to British shoegaze bands of the early 1990s.

Biography

Although the term "shoegazer" is most often associated with British indie bands of the early 1990s, Boston trio Galaxie 500's dreamy, shimmering guitar-pop gave many of its contemporaries across the pond a serious run for their money. The band released only three albums in its brief career, but they remain true gems of early-'90s American indie-rock. Following the band's break-up, guitarist/lead vocalist Dean Wareham went on to form Luna, while the husband-and-wife rhythm section of Naomi Yang (bass) and Damon Krukowski (drums) began performing as a duo under the name Damon & Naomi.
