New York singer/songwriter whose 1973 debut, AQUASHOW, is a lost classic.
Long Island-born Elliott Murphy combined Dylanesque songwriting with a Velvet Underground-influenced rock & roll sound. Coming up on the early-1970s New York City scene alongside the New York Dolls, he crafted a brilliant debut album in 1973's AQUASHOW, but was the victim of an overblown hype campaign he couldn't live up to, and commercial success eluded him. By the end of the '80s, he had moved to France, building a European audience, recording prolifically and touring constantly for decades to come.
