Founding member of the Detroit-based Falcons, a celebrated R&B solo artist with some memorable hits.
Though not quite as legendary as his colleagues Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes, and Booker T. Jones, Eddie Floyd was one of the key architects and purveyors of the Stax sound during the 1960s and '70s. In addition to being a successful writer who saw his songs rise to the tops of the charts when performed by the likes of Sam & Dave and Wilson Pickett, Floyd also scored his own hits with the Southern soul gems "Knock on Wood" and "Raise Your Hand." Floyd kept very active after Stax closed its doors, appearing in BLUES BROTHERS 2000, as well as writing, recording, and touring into the millennium.
