Biography

No mere stand up comedian, British comic actor Eddie Izzard is a free-associative raconteur whose stage act is one part Spalding Gray, one part Monty Python, replete with genuine transvestism (makeup and high heels). Izzard got his start as a street performer, working his way up to European cabarets in the mid-1980s. By the 1990s, he was headlining at comedy clubs and festivals in addition to acting stints on stage and screen, and gained exposure in the States with HBO specials that captured his hilarious onstage reveries. In 2007, Izzard co-wrote and starred in an acclaimed cable comedy show THE RICHES, co-starring Minnie Driver.
