Biography

Embodying the American cowboy mythos, Chris LeDoux had two remarkable public careers. During the 1970s, the gifted horseman was a professional rodeo rider, a lifestyle which inspired authentic, slice-of-life songs that made their way onto home recordings. As LeDoux started selling these recordings to rapt fans, he eased gradually into a long stint as a best-selling and much-loved country singer-songwriter. His profile received a welcome boost in '89 when Garth Brooks paid tribute to LeDoux in "Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)." Two years later, Brooks duetted with LeDoux on the title track of WHATCHA GONNA DO WITH A COWBOY (1991), and both the single and album reached the country Top 10. LeDoux signed with Capitol Records in '95, and released a series of successful albums into the new millennium. He died of complications from liver cancer in 2005.
