The Faint

New Wave revivalists who helped popularize the Saddle Creek label and Omaha music scene.

Biography

At the same time that Omaha's Bright Eyes was making folk-rock hip again on Saddle Creek Records, labelmates the Faint (who once included Oberst in their ranks) were doing the same for synth-flavored New Wave. They brought the herky-jerky rhythms, zipping analog synth tones, and angular guitar riffs of the late-1970s/early-'80s to the late '90s. They were perfectly situated for the electroclash trend of the early 2000s, and their sound turned more electronic during that time. After four albums for Saddle Creek, they Faint started their own label to release 2008's FASCIINATIION.
