Biography

Best known as the primary singer/songwriter in the indie-pop supergroup the New Pornographers (also featuring Neko Case and Destroyer’s Dan Bejar), A.C. (Allan Carl) Newman occasionally steps out on his own, as heard on 2004’s THE SLOW WONDER and ‘09’s GET GUILTY. While Newman’s solo work doesn’t stray too far from NP’s punchy, pop-savvy aesthetic, it allows the Canadian native (formerly of the alt-rock act Zumpano) to stretch out stylistically, and operate free of his day job’s more collaborative environment.
